Don't Just Sit There - The Prole Star Needs YOU!

Just over a month ago “The Prole Star” was little more than an idea between two people. Today it has a website, a Twitter and Facebook page and most importantly, a small team of writers. Our short term goal is to build up our Social Media platform and create a large following to share our articles. This will allow our writers to share their work to a much larger audience than they would get from blogging or writing Facebook statuses alone.

Our long term goal is to form a non profit making media cooperative with a membership that anyone can join. Every member will have a say in how "The Prole Star" is run, in keeping with our democratic traditions. Even our name is the result of a collective decision. We intend to create a media organization, which in contrast to the current situation, will be inclusive to working class people.

Never forget what history has shown can come from a grass roots level. We are looking for people just like you. Complaining about the status quo, but taking no action, will always be ineffective. This is your chance to take action and do what you do best, write!

We are much stronger when we come together to defend our interests. This is why we are looking for people just like you to help in a whole range of roles from writing and editing to promotion of 'The Prole Star'. Don’t just moan about what the current system has dealt you. Do something to get involved today from the comfort of your own home and join us in solidarity!

Brian Solis, a digital analyst, sociologist and futurist once said, “Social media sparks a revelation that we, the people, have a voice, and through the democratisation of content and ideas we can once again unite around common passions, inspire movements, and ignite change.”

We are living in a time of great social, political and economic change, but much of this change is happening without the consent of the people and in the interest of a tiny wealthy elite. The battle lines were drawn long ago and in recent years we have been defeated many times. But the latest technology allows us to organise and communicate in a way which was never possible before.

As the elites close in on us with trade deals that undermine democracy, promote deregulation and, as a result, inequality, there is still hope. Time isn’t on our side, but through social media we have a new found freedom. We now have the tool we need to topple this tyrant right in front of us, in a way we never had before. We have our weapon. Perhaps it's time to pick it up and use it?
